LISTING OF THE DAY

Location: Incline Village, Nevada

Price: $44 million

This 11,843-square-foot turnkey contemporary sits right on the shores of Lake Tahoe, and a 28-foot Cobalt powerboat and a Yamaha grand piano come with the deal.

“You can walk a couple of steps out your bedroom or dining room and you’re right on the lake,” listing agent Tracey Cutler said. “It’s a really, really rare opportunity to live on Lake Tahoe on 1.2 acres with 150 feet of water frontage.”

The sellers are financiers and philanthropists Dean and Madylon Meiling. Mr. Meiling is credited with growing PIMCO, one of the largest investment managers, from $100 million in assets to $186 billion at the time of his retirement in 1998, according to published reports. He also drove classic race cars, and the property features a seven-car garage.

Ms. Meiling is the founder of Classical Tahoe, an organization committed to the arts in Lake Tahoe.

“They built this house from the ground up for themselves,” Ms. Cutler said. “They put so much money into the finishes.”

The two-story, open-plan house, which is known as Spirit of the Lake, was built in 2005.

The couple split their time between Incline Village and Las Vegas, she said, with this being their primary residence.

The Meilings built this house to be an “entertainer’s dream, and it really is,” Ms. Cutler said. “The floor plan really flows.”

The property is being offered fully furnished, including antique pieces as well as the boat and the piano.

The dramatic great room, which is designed for large-group entertaining, features a 35-foot beamed ceiling with eight chandeliers, a custom stone fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows that face out to the lake, custom shades, two seating areas and an entertainment area around the grand piano.

“They’ve had a lot of live classical concerts there,” Ms. Cutler said.

The home’s architectural details include two offices, French limestone floors, Venetian plaster faux painted walls, custom distressed knotty alder wood cabinets, wood beamed ceilings, Loewen custom wood windows and French doors, custom barrel-vaulted ceilings in the dining room and wine cellar, and 10- to 12-foot ceilings.

The kitchen has two sets of pocket doors; a large center island; appliances by Thermador, Miele and Sub-Zero; custom cabinets; and French doors to an outdoor dining patio.

The primary bedroom suite has a large closet with two center islands, a custom stone fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows with lake views, and a lakefront outdoor seating area. The bathroom features dual limestone slab counters, a steam shower with built-in seating, and a large spa tub with jets and colored lights.

Along with the house, which is in “exquisite condition,” the grounds and the three-season perennial gardens are quite impressive, Ms. Cutler said. “It feels like you’re walking through a Zen garden.”

The property is in a “very private wooded area,” she said. “It’s completely surrounded by pine trees.”

Neighborhood Notes

“Incline Village is a really small, tight-knit community,” Ms. Cutler said. “It’s a really great neighborhood for someone who loves all sorts of recreational activities.”
